Before starting with my driving lessons in 2019, I have heard many horror stories about people who spent huge amount of time and money before passing their practical test for their driver’s license. It is known to many how difficult it is to acquire a driver’s license in the Netherlands. Something that I did not appreciate until I begun my own journey of become a licensed driver.
At the onset of my journey, I was rather ambitious if not downright arrogant. Unlike some of my friends, I will manage to earn my driver’s licence in no time, so I told myself. I will pass my practical test in my first attempt and I will pass it with flying colours.
Little did I know that like some of my friends, it will also take me years to have finally have the privilege to operate a motor vehicle. I started in October 2019. I failed my practical tests four times. It was only this year that I have finally passed after my fifth attempt.
